Together,
We Can implement a Rural Mass Transit System
second to none in the entire country. We are currently
working closely with US Senator Daniel K. Inouye’s
office and coordinating with our State Legislators to
ensure that we can present a Federal & State funding
proposal to create a timely, efficient, and safe transit
system for Hawaii Island residents. This is a short-term
initiative that will have long-term benefits for everyone
in every sector in every district of our Island.
Together, We Can create a Safe Haven for our
children in each of our schools throughout the Hawaii
Island community. If our children are in school, engaged
in positive, educational activities from 8 am –
2 pm, then let us work together to expand that Safe Haven
from 2 pm – 8 pm.
Our youth will have a safe environment, computer labs,
libraries, and a meeting place to connect with community
volunteers, mentors, or tutors during the afternoon and
evening hours when they are most at risk of becoming engaged
in unsafe activities. We Can overcome the challenges to
make this a reality.
Together, We Can ensure that our community is
one of the safest in the country. We must continue to
support our Hawaii County Police Department so that they
have the manpower and resources to serve our community.
Our Fire Department, like our Police Department, is unequaled
in training, leadership, and development of professional
first-responders in our community. Let us work to continue
that commitment to excellence. We must also ensure that
our Civil Defense Agency remains the model to which other
counties look for emergency operations response.
Together, We Can continue to ensure that
higher education remains a priority in the development
of our community. We Can expand our Community Colleges
and the University of Hawaii to West Hawaii. We Can ensure
that our School of Pharmacy is developed as a flagship
college for the entire Pacific Region. We Can establish
higher education as the gateway for a future for our youth
and a positive economic engine for our community.
